Estartit is a very pretty family resort located at the northern end of the Costa Brava at the foot of the Montgri Mountain. The picturesque medieval town of Pals sits high on a hill and its rooftops are visible from kilometers around on the plains. This meticulously restored charming town is popular with day-trippers. The calm, sun-baked town of Begur holds a privileged position, with its tile-roof houses scattering the sides of a forested hill. Many of the houses here have a unique colonial style. Economic crisis in the early 19th century, forced many locals in Begur to move off to Cuba, and when they found fortune there, they returned building their colonial-style dream houses called casas indianas. After a look around at Plaça de la Villa, the town square, and its small Gothic church climb the antic Carrer del Castell and the paved path that winds up the hillside to the castle. There you'll find fascinating 360-degree views of the Costa Brava.
